Office for whistleblowers

Remit

The Office for Whistleblowers ("OSIG" or the "Office") was established by the Act of 16 May 2023. The Office operates under the authority of the Minister of Justice. Its mission is to inform, advise, and support anyone wishing to make a report, to raise public awareness regarding the applicable legislation on whistleblower protection, and to ensure compliance with the Law of 16 May 2023.

The Law of 16 May 2023 transposing Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2019 on the protection of persons who report violations of Union law creates a legal framework for the protection of whistleblowers in a professional context, obligates legal entities to establish internal reporting channels and procedures, and designates 23 competent authorities responsible for collecting external reports and ensuring compliance.

Any person wishing to provide the Office with information on any non-compliance with the establishment of internal reporting channels can also get in touch with the Office. Any request for information or any report will be handled with strict confidentiality regarding the identity of the person making the request or the potential whistleblower.
